What is the CF Checker?

The CF Checker checks the contents of a NetCDF file complies with the Climate and Forecasts (CF) Metadata Convention.

For details of the NetCDF format and the CF Convention go to the NetCDF format page or the CF Convention page.

Where can I find the CF Checker source code?

The CF Checker is open-source and available on Github. See the README for instructions on how to install and use the CF Checker locally.

The CF Checker was originally developed at the Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction and Research, UK Met Office by Rosalyn Hatcher and was supported by PRISM (PRogramme for Integrated Earth System Modelling). Subsequently development and maintenance was taken over by NCAS Computational Modelling Services (NCAS-CMS). Further development is currently being supported by IS-ENES3.
